The navy is here...

Not often do we see the Singapore navy in action in the mountains of the Western Ghats. Rarer still, a hundred of them trekking through the beautiful Munnar landscape. So out they were in the midst of the mountains for an ‘exercise’ in survival ! An Early morning start and off to Munnar, stopping en-route for a cuppa and off once again to start the day at the picturesque Anaerangal Lake..

Calisthenics near the Anaerangal Lake before the trek starts..

And off they go through the grasslands.

No, no one is sick here..just a CASEVAC drill in true Navy style..

'Stream Fording' near Shantanpara. A fabulous route if there was one, with the Kalypso Boys leading the way through dense forests (and (leeches !!) ..

Camp at Shantanpara

Kalypso Camp Boss Ravi keeping a weather eye open in the wilderness.

Next day off again through the spine of the Western Ghats towards Chatuurangapara, negotiatinng the tricky Devil's Ridge. Out comes the ropes with Eldo, our ropeman, gingerly helping everyone across, the job is done and over in a jiffy.

A short break - Prateeque and Michael near the peak.

Everyone reaches the peak at Chaturangapara (The Chess Rock !!) with fabulous views all around.

At last, for the cameras - after a fabulous trek through the mountains !!
